Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport
Introduction
Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaen Airport is located in the region of La Vega del Genil, 17 kilometres from Granada capital and 106 km from Jaen capital.
The new name is a tribute to the poet from Granada and also associates his name with Granada and Jaen, to promote the presence of these two Andalusian provinces in international tourist circuits. Lorca thus becomes an ambassador for Andalusia in the world, whilst contributing to disseminating knowledge about his life and literary work.
The airport maintains a scheduled traffic link with Barcelona and Madrid, thereby offering a very important service for the social-economic development of both provinces.
The airport currently has a passenger terminal with facilities for: departures, arrivals, cafeteria and restaurant, VIP lounge, car hire offices and other services. It obtained the ISO 9001 standard quality management certificate in September 2008.
The airport recorded a total of 728,428 passengers, 11,375 operations and27.93 tonnes of cargo in 2012.
