Murcia - San Javier Airport
Introduction
Murcia-San Javier Airport is located on the north shoreline of the Mar Menor, in the district of Santiago de la Ribera, belonging to the town of San Javier. It is an air station open to civil traffic.
The airport has become an essential node in holiday and leisure transport that arrives and departs from the Autonomous Community of Murcia. In order to increase its capacity to serve commercial flights and, therefore, boost its activity, in recent years Aena Aeropuertos has made significant investments that have resulted in various projects: the construction of a second runway, a new control tower, the expansion of the departure area of the passenger terminal, the aircraft parking platform for commercial and public parking and a new power plant.
In 2012, the Murcia-San Javier airport handled 1,181,490 passengers and 11,580 flight operations.
