Aena Aeropuertos S.A. provides its users with a practical communications channel which is universally accessible; it aims to remove barriers and improve the presence of its website, according to criteria of maximum simplicity, scope and effectiveness, in order to disseminate information and publicise the services on offer to people wishing to receive information.
This action conforms with the resolution of the Council of the European Union dated 25 March 2002, on the eEurope 2002 Action Plan, "Accessibility of public web sites and their content", complies with the dispositions of the Law of Services of the Information Society and of Electronic Business dated 11 July 2002 and follows the indications of the "Guía para la edición y publicación de las páginas web de la Administración General del Estado" (Guide for writing and publication of web pages of the General State Administration).
Aena Aeropuertos is working to achieve Double-A certificate validation for its website content, in accordance with the recommendations of the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative), an international working group which is part of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) and which works to ensure that no group experiences discrimination of any kind which could lead to social fractures in the virtual world.
The techniques used in the Aena portal follow those recommended by the WAI for both XHML and CSS.
To achieve this objective of facilitating access to all, we have received the help of two organisations external to Aena Aeropuertos, which are responsible for certifying compliance with the W3C WAI guidelines at the Double-A Validation level: Technosite, a company belonging to the ONCE Foundation, and King-eClient.
In order to make using its website easier, Aena Aeropuertos uses keyboard shortcuts, accesskey, facilitating mouse-free navigation and following links by using the key combinations associated with the browser that they are using.
