The history of Vigo Airport is marked by the determination of many of its surrounding neighbours who went along with tools in hand to pitch in on the construction works back in the 50's. Local authorities, in their determination for Vigo and its area of influence to stimulate economic development, also supported the effort.

The beginnings of Vigo Airport go back to 1954 and since then it has not stopped growing. It handled more than 1,400,000 passengers in 2007 (according to Aena provisional data). Aena would like to commemorate Vigo Airport's 50 years of history with this book, whose pages are packed full of interesting stories and entertaining photos which are the documental testimony of the work of many professionals, who came before us and others who continue to strive every day to offer a high-quality service to all their customers.
