Aena is committed to the effective freedom and equality of people with disabilities in their relations with Spanish airports and to facilitating their use of public transport.

The most immediate forerunner of this commitment is the Accessibility Manual drawn up and published in 1998. This was intended to provide basic information on the treatment of people with disabilities, and to establish suitable operational and organisational processes to ensure their easy and problem-free use of airports and their surroundings.

The Manual is a basic tool for ensuring that buildings, the spaces giving access to them, and support parking allow anyone to receive the services offered in these areas, in the conditions of safety, comfort and independence that their individual needs require.
